Description
Our single origin South African rooibos loose leaf tea is a refreshingly sweet indigenous herbal infusion. The larger size of these leaves allows for a more thorough and flavoursome brew, with a delicately sweet finish.
Rooibos literally translated as ‘red bush’ is given its name dues to the colour change that occurs during the fermentation process. It is not a tea but rather a caffeine-free, herbal infusion.
Native to South Africa, Rooibos is to South Africa what Champagne is to France. It is indigenous fynbos, growing well under the harsh climatic environment in the Cedarberg, in the Western Cape. The hot clear, wind-free summer days between February and April is the ideal time to process the tea from the bush.
HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT CUP ROOIBOS TEA
- Use two heaped teaspoons of leaves per cup. Use a ball tea strainer or a coffee plunger.
- Pour freshly boiled water over the leaves, allow to infuse for 3 - 6 minutes before straining.
- Enjoy the unique flavour, best served without milk or sweetener but may be added if desired.
- Store in a cool dry place. Once opened, seal with the sticker and use within 2 months.
